No venomous reptiles permitted at any time!
**Some animals that are Non-CITES include: Leopard/Crested/Fat-Tailed/Knob Tailed Geckos, Bearded Dragons, Corn/Ratsnakes (most colubrids) etc**

Costs to import into Canada are (which are covered by our $500 base import/export fee):

$105CDN for import/export license
$105CDN for exception to designated port permit
$190CDN for USFWS inspections for Non-CITES animals (for an unlimited number of reptiles as long as they’re coming from the same U.S. source/origin)

=$400 in fees + $100 for our services = $500 base fee
*Additional U.S. sources will be $250/source ($190 of this goes towards a new inspection fee for the additional source. $60 is our fee for additional time spent on paperwork).

What does this fee include?:

*The use of our import/export license as well as exception to designated port permit so that you don’t have to have one. Huge benefit!

*We will fill out the 3-177 form(s), schedule an inspection on the U.S. side, pickup package(s) from our U.S. address, and go through USF&W inspections.

*We will fill out and clear Canada Border Services Agency B3 form and bring your animal(s) onto Canadian soil.


This amount does NOT include:
* The fee for your U.S. contact to ship the reptiles to our U.S. address;
* Reptile Express shipping the reptiles to your Canadian address
* Tax (5% GST) on the total declared valued (based on commercial invoice)

Keep in mind that if you’re local to our Toronto or York Region locations that you can always pick up Tuesday evenings and avoid the Canadian shipping charge.

Procedure for IMPORTING reptiles from the USA

1) Contact us with your full name and Canadian address. From this we will determine if we service your area for delivery. If we do, proceed to step 2.

2) Provide us with the U.S. shippers information listed below:

  • Full Name
  • Full U.S. Address
  • Telephone Number
  • E-mail address

3) Provide us information regarding EACH of the reptile(s) being shipped:

  • Common Name
  • Scientific Name (Be accurate. Watch your spelling!)
  • EXACT quantity of animals being shipped
  • Captive bred or not
  • Monetary Value ($USD)
  • Number of boxes containing reptiles the shipper will be using

4) We will let your U.S. contact know which U.S. address to ship to and will recommend which courier to use.

5) The Canadian customer will pay Reptile Express our Non-CITES import/export fee ($500CDN) as well as the taxes on the total declared value (5%) in advance. The shipping fee from our Toronto location to your Canadian address will be pre-paid as well.

Please note: For international shipping, we only accept E-Transfer, Money Order, and Cheques. No credit cards/PayPal, unless otherwise arranged.

6) The U.S. shipper MUST provide a professional receipt within the package making note of each reptiles common & scientific names, as well as their monetary value. This is extremely important information to have when we enter Canadian customs. If this is not provided, we will send the shipment back to the sender at the senders expense.

7) The U.S. shipper will ship the package off on Monday evenings ONLY. They will purchase a FedEx First Overnight (10:30am) or Priority Overnight (Before NOON) Service only. We will not accept any packages arriving after 12pm as that’s the time we need to go through USF&W inspections. We are not responsible for any shipments arriving after 12pm.

8) Reptile Express picks packages up at our U.S. location on Tuesday mornings ONLY, and are back in Mississauga, ON, Canada around 4pm.

9A) If you’re local to the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), you can pick up your package(s) Tuesday late afternoon after 5pm at no extra charge.

9B) OR if you’re not local to us, we will then immediately ship out your package to your Canadian address as soon as we reach Mississauga, ON around 4pm. You will receive your package before 5pm the following day (Wednesday), with many areas receiving them before noon.

In total you’ll be looking at anywhere from $600-$700 more or less (not including GST) to receive a shipment from the USA.
(With our current promotion you’d be looking at anywhere from $450-$600 (not including GST) to receive a shipment from the USA).

To sum it up our procedure from start to finish is outlined below:

Your U.S contact will drop the package off in the evening at their closest shipping hub and will purchase FedEx First Overnight or FedEx Priority Overnight only

Reptile Express will pick up the package Tuesday morning at our U.S. location.
Reptile Express will have gone through USFWS inspections and Canadian customs in the early afternoon.
Reptile Express will be back at our Toronto location by around 6pm.
Reptile Express will ship out all packages immediately once we’re back onto Canadian soil to expedite the process.

You will receive your shipment today! Delivery to your door is between 9am – 5pm. Most often before noon. Somebody must be home to accept the package.

This amount does NOT include:

* The fee for the Canadian customer to ship to our Toronto address. (If you’re local to us, you can simply drop off and avoid this fee)
* Any customs broker fees (based on the value of shipment. Ranges from $40-$100)
* U.S. State Tax (each state has a different value) based on total declared value of shipment.
* Reptile Express shipping the reptiles from our Buffalo, NY address to the U.S. recipients address


Procedure for Exporting reptiles out of Canada

1) Contact us with your full name and Canadian address. From this we will determine if you are able to ship us your reptiles to our Toronto location. If we do, proceed to step 2.

2) Provide us with the U.S. shippers information listed below:

  • Full Name
  • Full U.S. Address
  • Telephone Number
  • E-mail address

3) Provide us information regarding EACH of the reptile(s) being shipped:

  • Common Name
  • Scientific Name (Be accurate. Watch your spelling!)
  • Captive bred or not
  • Monetary Value ($CDN)
  • Number of boxes containing reptiles that you will be sending us

4) The Canadian customer will pay Reptile Express our Non-CITES broker fee ($500CDN and/or $50CDN per additional U.S. destination) as well as the taxes on the total declared value (That particulars State tax will be determined beforehand). The Canadian customer will also pay the shipping fee to send their package to our location (unless they’re dropping it off personally at our location), as well as the shipping fee from our Buffalo, NY location to the final U.S. destination. We will provide you these amounts once you’ve provided us the information in steps 1 and 2 above.

Please note: For international shipping, we only accept E-Transfer, Money Order, and Cheques. No credit cards/PayPal.

5)The Canadian shipper MUST provide a professional receipt within the package making note of each reptiles common & scientific names, as well as their individual monetary value. This is extremely important information to have when we enter U.S. customs. Without this receipt we will not ship your package .

6) You must ship out your package on Mondays only, in order for us to receive them by Tuesdays only. If you’re local to us, you can therefore drop off the reptile(s) to our Richmond Hill, ON location on Monday evenings.

7) We will take your package(s) across to the U.S. border on Tuesday noon time and will go through U.S. Fish and Wildlife inspections as well as U.S. customs at that time.

8) Once everything has been cleared we will send your package(s) off to be delivered to your U.S. contacts door the following day (Wednesday) with a NEXT DAY PRIORITY AM SERVICE. Somebody must be home to sign/accept the package.

In total our Canadian customer will be looking at $600-700 more or less (not including any possible State taxes) to ship to their U.S. customer.
(With our current promotion you’d be looking at anywhere from $400-$500 (not including shipping and US State Taxes) to receive a shipment from Canada).

To sum it up our procedure from start to finish is outlined below:

Our Canadian customer will receive a pickup at their door throughout many Canadian locations via one of our trucks to be delivered to our location in Toronto, Ontario the following morning.

Reptile Express will receive your package no later than 10am on this day.
Your package(s) will be transported by a temperature controlled vehicle to the U.S. border.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife inspections and U.S. customs will be done in the early afternoon.
Once packages have been cleared we will ship them off from our Buffalo, NY location to be delivered to your U.S. customer the following day before 5pm. Most often arriving before noon via FedEx.

Your U.S. customer will receive their shipment today!  Somebody must be home to accept/sign for the package.
